Enter... Marley and NAS

My hottest track this week

Two of the biggest names in music history have again joint forces. This time they have produced the brilliantly appealing ‘As we enter’.

Damian Marley (son of Bob) and rap legend NAS are destined for a hit with this striking collaboration. The perfect mix of reggae and rap make this a perfect summer track for every music devotee.

Not to panic though, this masterpiece is sure to be one of many. They are scheduled to release their joint album ‘Distant Relatives’ with guests including: Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg, Joss Stone and Lil Wayne. Not likely to disappoint then....

Eminem's English equivalent

Watching his impeccable freestyle skills scattered across ‘Youtube’, this masterful Hackney lad strikes uncanny resemblance to Eminem in his film '8 mile'. Professor Green’s faultless, witty lines are a picture of ‘B-Rabbit’. Leaving his opponents speechless, and crowds in a frenzy, he’d make the perfect match for the American artist.

Now, the Professor has gate crashed the UK charts with ‘I Need you tonight’. The transition from battle MC to artist has appeared effortless and has everybody talking. Times are exciting, after touring with Lily Allen on the ‘Brilly-Allent’ tour; he is now set to release a track with the fellow cheeky Londoner. With UK Hip-Hop a real hit this year, the sky really is the limit.

Professor Green.... you only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow!

General Election goes mainstream...

This year has undeniably seen the general election receive more attention than ever. In fact, so much, it’s been more like a showing of 'Britain’s Got Talent’. The three leaders have plucked up the courage and screened their talents to Cowell and his team. The election has been glamorised, but this isn’t such a bad thing…

The series of three live debates have reached out to the younger audiences, attaining voters that never seemed to exist. Politics have become fun; yet still maintain their significance. For the loyal voters it has provided needed interaction with the leaders and allows them to be approached as ‘real’ people. The direct clashes have not only supplied valuable information, but great TV.

The first televised debate attracted an impressive 9.4 million viewers, beating of soaps Coronation Street and Eastenders. The 90-minute showing pooled a huge 37% share of the total TV audience over that period. Only shows such as Britain's Got Talent and major sporting events have received such figures on a regular basis according to ITV. Politics has definitely expanded its demographic, making this election the biggest yet.

You've seen the contestants, who's your favourite? The lines are now open...

Tinie leading in Hip-Hops summer takeover

Hip-Hop is taking over this summer, taking back its place on top of music's tree of success. If my judgements are correct, Mr Tempah will be leading by example once again in the months to come. After recently dominating the charts with ‘Passout’, his new single ‘Frisky’ is destined to follow in its footsteps. Alongside Labrinth once again, summer for Tinie will be one to remember. Beside him the whole way are a range of radiant tracks sure to be on the top of your playlists. Hip-Hop is back, and with the likes of Drake and Ludacris on its side it looks to be a good couple of months for the genre...

Here are my top five Hip-Hop listens for this month:

Tinie Tempah: Frisky
Drake: Over
Llyod Banks: Beamer, Benz or Bentley
Soulja Boy: Donk
And the wildcard: WatagatpitusBerry

'Frisky' is due for release on 06 June 2010

Tinie's in town...

The UK has recently been treated to a new rap-star superstar: Tinie Tempah.

The Ray-Ban wearing rapper from South London has hit the ground running with his 'debut' single 'Pass Out', sitting proudly on the top of the charts for two weeks in succession. The newcomer has currently sold over 92,000 copies of the new smash hit, leaving Rhianna and Jason Derulo trailing behind.

Tinie is no rookie when it comes to success however; his first music video for his promotional single 'Wifey' became an underground smash hit holding the Channel U urban chart top spot for an impressive 10 weeks.

'Pass Out' is arguably the best British track since Dizzee Rascal’s 'Bonkers’, and leaves the nation wondering what he will do next. If Dizzee's career is anything to go by, Tinie looks to have a bright future ahead of him...

Life after Beckham..

David Beckham's hopes of playing in his fourth World Cup look to be over. To the dismay of countless England fans, Beckham tore his left Achilles tendon in AC Milan’s victory over Chievo, ending his dreams of a place in Capello’s final twenty three. More frustrating for the England star, the injury was unprovoked; unchallenged; he hobbled off, before being carried away by a stretcher.

After hearing the news, England manager Capello seemed resigned to be being without Beckham for the finals in June. In a statement he said: "We have to wait for the results of the scan but it looks like he is out of the World Cup” Not everyone shared Capello’s hope however, and ex England and Spurs star, Gary Lineker, believes Beckham’s loss is not “the end of the world”. "It's sad David is going out this way, but it's not the biggest loss to Fabio Capello," Lineker told the BBC. It’s no doubt that Beckhams’ experience would of proved vital for England’s chances, leading to rumours that Beckham will still join the squad at South Africa for support and guidance.

Beckham was a near certainty to become the first England player to appear in four World Cups, however Capello will now be forced to choose an alternative. He does have a good shortlist to choose from however, with Lennon, Walcott and Wright-Phillips all hopefully available. Although this could be the end for Beckham and the World Cup, many are behind him on making a full return to the game and the AC Milan squad.
